Iraqi Authorities Allow Stranded Travelers Through Shalamcheh and Shibe Crossings

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Al-Zaidi, issued directives Saturday, permitting entry and exit for Iraqi travelers stranded at Shalamcheh and Shibe border crossings. Brigadier General Saad Maan, head of the Security Media Cell, affirmed these directives, aiming to facilitate citizen movement following a period of temporary closure. The Security Media Cell had earlier announced the closure of these two crossings, clarifying the measure was due to necessary administrative and security arrangements. A statement from the authority explained that security agencies initiated organization and reform operations at several border points, thus requiring their temporary closure. It also noted intensive legal measures, including enhanced intelligence and investigations to uncover any irregularities or violations and implement appropriate remedies. In a related context, it was affirmed that the Zurbatiyah and Al-Mundhiriyah crossings remain open for normal traveler movement.
