The Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency announced on Sunday the dismantling of a dangerous criminal network specializing in forging deeds, grading and parceling agricultural lands, and selling them illegally in Baghdad's Karkh district. This comes as part of the agency's continuous efforts to protect state lands and combat forgery. Police intelligence detachments succeeded in breaking up this network following intensive intelligence and field efforts, and in implementation of the directives of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Intelligence and Federal Investigations. This operation followed precise intelligence information revealing suspicious activity managed by a group comprising government employees and contractors. This group deliberately graded agricultural lands and altered their features in violation of the conditions and regulations issued by the concerned authorities. Furthermore, they defrauded citizens and sold these lands for large sums of money, utilizing forged deeds in their illicit transactions. Agency personnel successfully surrounded the network members and arrested all its individuals, numbering over ten suspects. Forged records, deeds, and substantial sums of money obtained from these illegal forgery operations were seized in their possession. The operation was carried out based on proper judicial approvals. The suspects' statements were recorded, and they, along with the seized items, were referred to the competent judicial authorities to take the necessary legal measures against them.
