The Supreme Judicial Council announced the validation of 25 identity documents for missing persons whose remains were found in Nineveh province, a key step to ascertain their fate. The Nineveh Court of Appeal Presidency approved these documents following completion of all legal and technical procedures. This involved DNA matching tests by the Department of Forensic Medicine, confirming the remains' compatibility with the missing persons' relatives. The approved identity document provides official proof of the victim's identity and death, forming the basis for legal steps like issuing a death certificate and inheritance partition. It also secures all legal rights for martyrs' families, in line with applicable laws.
