Iraqi Parliament Adjourns Session Until Thursday After Initial Readings

The Iraqi Parliament adjourned its session on Wednesday until Thursday, following the completion of the first reading of several key draft laws. Speaker Heibat al-Halbousi opened the 13th session of the sixth electoral cycle, the first legislative year, and the second legislative term. During the proceedings, the Council finalized the first reading of the draft First Amendment Law to Law No. (18) of 2019 concerning the Iraqi Higher Maritime Authority, as well as the draft Mineral Investment Law and the Islamic Investment Sukuk Law. Additionally, lawmakers concluded the first reading of the draft law for Iraq's accession to the Arab Customs Cooperation Agreement, and the draft law ratifying the Agreement on Mutual Encouragement and Protection of Investments between the governments of Iraq and Turkey.
