In a development within the legislative landscape, the House of Representatives took a new step during its meeting held today, Wednesday, headed by Council Speaker Haibat Al-Halbousi. The session witnessed an official vote to postpone the previously scheduled agenda and completely convert it into a general and expanded discussion session dedicated to addressing the file of the rise in the US dollar exchange rate. The media department of the council clarified this organizational step in a brief statement. This parliamentary shift comes in tandem with an announcement issued earlier today, Wednesday, by the Central Bank of Iraq regarding amending the exchange rate of the Iraqi dinar against the dollar starting from October 7, 2026, where the purchase price from the Ministry of Finance and the selling prices to banks and the public were determined with specific figures.
