Iraqi PM Appreciates Iran's Support to Iraq

Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi on Wednesday praised Iran's supportive stances towards Iraq. A statement issued by his office reported that the Prime Minister received Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Shura Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and his accompanying delegation. The meeting focused on discussing prospects for cooperation and joint work, and ways to strengthen bilateral relations in various fields, serving the mutual interests of the two neighboring countries and peoples. Al-Zaidi affirmed the deep ties between Iraq and Iran, emphasizing the historical, geographical, and religious commonalities that unite the two countries. He also lauded the support provided by the Islamic Republic of Iran to Iraq, particularly during its war against the terrorist organization ISIS. For his part, the Iranian Shura Council Speaker expressed his pleasure at visiting Iraq, commending the Iraqi government's efforts in welcoming and serving Iranian visitors during the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). Ghalibaf affirmed his country's keenness to continue developing bilateral relations and expanding cooperation to achieve the common interests of the Iraqi and Iranian peoples.
