In a move to foster economic partnership and expand investment horizons, Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi has extended an invitation to members of the American Chamber of Commerce and specialized companies to attend the upcoming Baghdad Energy Conference. This invitation was made during Al-Zaidi's reception of a delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce in New York yesterday evening, Wednesday, Baghdad time. The Prime Minister's media office stated that the meeting focused on developing economic cooperation. During the meeting, Al-Zaidi affirmed Iraq's possession of significant natural resources, promising human potential, and a distinguished geographical location. These, he emphasized, are fundamental for successful and sustainable investment partnerships. He noted the government is diligently working to effectively utilize these resources to support economic development and enhance investment opportunities for foreign companies. The Prime Minister also clarified the government's strong commitment to providing all necessary requirements and facilities for companies and investors entering the Iraqi market. These include ownership of investment project lands according to Iraqi laws, and benefiting from tax and customs exemptions for investment projects, which can extend up to ten years. Al-Zaidi further highlighted Iraq's efforts to develop its infrastructure and major transportation projects, notably the railway network within the strategic Development Road project. This initiative, he stressed, will strengthen Iraq's position as a hub connecting East and West, opening vast prospects for investors seeking promising opportunities. He specifically urged American companies to capitalize on investment opportunities in Iraq, especially in vital sectors like petrochemicals, glass and phosphate industries, as well as gas and clean energy projects. Al-Zaidi emphasized that the government looks forward to establishing major factories and production projects to diversify the Iraqi economy and create more job opportunities for citizens. Concluding the meeting, the Prime Minister reiterated his invitation to members of the American Chamber of Commerce and specialized companies to actively participate in the Baghdad Energy Conference, and to benefit from the capabilities offered by the Iraqi economy. He stressed that Iraq seeks to build robust economic relations based on genuine partnership, mutual interests, and long-term investment.
