The Iraqi-Turkish agreement for establishing a new border crossing in the Faysh Khabur region, located within the Tal Afar district, is expected to enter implementation soon. This strategic project, stemming from a memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries, aims to support infrastructure, development, and reconstruction initiatives in Nineveh Governorate. In this regard, Mohammed Ahris, a member of the Nineveh Provincial Council, emphasized the significance of this anticipated crossing for boosting commercial traffic and increasing Iraq's revenues. He explained that it will serve as a vital new channel for the movement of goods and trade exchange, while also supporting the Rabia crossing and enhancing Nineveh's position as a key commercial hub between Iraq and Turkey. Ahris further added that linking the new crossing with the Development Road project will significantly enhance Iraq's economic standing and open wide prospects for transportation and investment. This is expected to provide job opportunities and stimulate various economic sectors in the region. This initiative falls within the framework of ongoing Iraqi-Turkish economic cooperation, affirming the commitment to strengthening border crossings and developing transport and trade routes.
