Islamabad intensification of Pakistani diplomatic efforts to bridge views Washington Tehran

The Pakistani Prime Minister's office reported today, Wednesday, that Shehbaz Sharif expressed his hope to complete a peace agreement with Iran soon, while negotiations between Tehran and Washington continue "well", according to the White House.

The office also stated that Shehbaz Sharif received a phone call earlier today from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

It explained that Shehbaz Sharif assured Pezeshkian that Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir is making strenuous efforts for peace.

This came as US President Donald Trump confirmed that Iran is negotiating and is on the verge of collapse, emphasizing that Tehran will not receive sanctions relief in exchange for giving up its stockpile of highly enriched uranium, and that Tehran will be forced to give up this uranium "but not in exchange for lifting sanctions".

Trump also added in statements to reporters from the White House that Washington is "not satisfied" with the proposals presented by Iran so far within the framework of the ongoing negotiations, confirming that the two sides "have not reached an agreement yet".

The US President said that Tehran "wants to reach an agreement because it has no other choice", considering that the continuous American pressure has pushed Iran to "take a step back" in a number of files.

In the same context, the White House confirmed that the negotiations are going well, noting that President Donald Trump has set clear red lines.
