The Ministry of Oil clarified on Saturday the blending of regular and premium gasoline, stating these refinery operations are a purely technical procedure to treat naphtha. In a statement, the Ministry emphasized that all petroleum products provided to citizens are fully subsidized. This reflects the government's commitment to bolstering energy security and ensuring fuel supply for all societal sectors. The Ministry also highlighted that domestic fuel prices are not comparable to those in neighboring countries or globally. It detailed four types of fuel available for vehicles: regular gasoline (approx. 85 octane), premium gasoline (approx. 91 octane), super gasoline (95 octane), and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for cars. The Ministry reaffirmed that blending within refineries is a technical process designed to treat naphtha after refining, improving its specifications and transforming it into gasoline meeting Iraqi standards. This effort aims to maximize gasoline production and satisfy local demand.
