The national team officially concluded its participation in the 27th edition of the Gulf Cup, currently being held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, following Oman's qualification via a decisive draw. The competition committee of the Gulf Football Federation conducted the draw to determine the qualifier, after Iraq and Oman were level on points and yellow cards. The national team had previously lost its match against Saudi Arabia by two goals to nil, while Oman secured a victory over Kuwait with a 3-1 scoreline.
