The Iraqi Parliament voted to elect Nizar Mohammed Saeed Amidi as President of the Republic, after he secured a majority of votes.
According to the official statement, Amidi received 227 votes, while his rival Muthanna Amin Nader gained 15 votes, in addition to seven invalid ballots.
This vote represents a key step toward completing the political process, paving the way for appointing a prime minister and forming the next government amid current challenges.
