Trading activity in local markets of the capital Baghdad witnessed a notable change on Wednesday, marked by record-high levels for yellow metal prices of both local and foreign types, directly coinciding with a surge in foreign currency exchange rates. Data from well-known wholesale markets on Al-Nahr Street showed that the selling price per mithqal of 21-carat gold for Gulf, Turkish, and European types settled at 978,000 dinars, while the buying price recorded 974,000 dinars, rising clearly from Tuesday's levels of 930,000 dinars per mithqal. Similarly, the selling price per mithqal of 21-carat Iraqi gold reached about 948,000 dinars, with the buying price at 944,000 dinars. In direct dealings across jewelry shops scattered throughout the markets, the selling price of a mithqal of 21-carat Gulf gold ranged between 980,000 and 990,000 dinars, while the selling price of an Iraqi gold mithqal ranged between 950,000 and 960,000 dinars.
