The Council of Representatives on Thursday directed security agencies to swiftly bring perpetrators of the Dhora district incident to justice. Simultaneously, the Council urged the government to find urgent solutions for residents of informal settlements. This came after the Council voted on a decision with specific recommendations regarding recent events in Dhora. The decision stipulated: 1. Formation of a high-level investigative committee for the incident. 2. Committee to provide its findings and recommendations to the Council. 3. Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee to monitor the issue and update the Council. Earlier today, the Ministry of Interior announced the martyrdom of a brigadier general and a Karkh Police member, along with injuries to four other personnel from the Federal Police and Karkh SWAT teams. This occurred during an anti-encroachment campaign duty in Baghdad's Dhora district. Senior Undersecretary Hussein Al-Awadi, in a statement, mourned the casualties. He affirmed, "The martyrdom of Ministry of Interior personnel performing national duty to enforce law and maintain public order represents the highest forms of sacrifice for the nation and its citizens." Al-Awadi called for an urgent security and intelligence task force to investigate the incident, vigorously apprehend perpetrators, and bring them to justice. He stressed, "Our martyrs' blood will not be in vain; the Ministry of Interior remains committed to its duty, upholding the rule of law, and protecting citizens and property."
