Prime Minister Affirms Continued National Efforts for Strong, Fully Sovereign Iraq

Prime Minister Ali al-Zeidi affirmed today, Friday, the government's ongoing commitment to national work to confront all challenges and build a strong, free, and fully sovereign Iraq. In a post on social media platform X, al-Zeidi highlighted the 43rd anniversary of the crime committed by the former Ba'athist regime against the Kurdish national movement, which included the genocide against the Barzanis. He noted that this crime was part of a widespread campaign of repression aimed at crushing identity, spreading mass graves, and instilling terror, but it ultimately failed to break the will of the Iraqi people who rejected tyranny and dictatorship. The Prime Minister extended his condolences to the Kurdish people and the leadership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, particularly Mr. Masoud Barzani, on this painful occasion. He emphasized his pride in the immense sacrifices made by Iraqis from all components, which contributed to the dawn of freedom and the establishment of the democratic federal system that guarantees constitutional rights, dignity, and respect for all. Al-Zeidi concluded his statement by reiterating the continuation of sincere national efforts to face all challenges, leading to a strong, free, and fully sovereign Iraq.
