Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi departed for New York on Monday to participate in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly meetings. Mr. Al-Zaidi is scheduled to deliver Iraq's speech before representatives of member states in the international organization, where he will present his country's positions on regional and international developments and crises. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Media Office, the speech will outline the Iraqi government's approach to addressing the economic and developmental challenges that Iraq is overcoming. Al-Zaidi will also review the significant steps adopted in the path of economic reform, achieving diversification in national income sources and gross national product, tackling corruption, promoting openness to investment, and affirming national sovereignty. On the sidelines of his participation, the Prime Minister is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings and discussions with several heads of states, governments, and participating delegations. These meetings will address relations between Iraq and those sisterly and friendly nations, as well as explore opportunities for building and strengthening economic cooperation in pursuit of common interests.
