Prime Minister Stresses Need to Develop Diverse Relations with International Coalition States During Meeting with German Commander

Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi affirmed on Monday the importance of transitioning towards building multi-directional relations with the states of the international coalition. Al-Zaidi received Günter Schneider, the commander of German forces deployed outside Germany, and his accompanying delegation in Baghdad. The two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them in military and security fields. The talks included means to improve the performance and efficiency of the Iraqi armed forces through joint programs. The meeting also reviewed the ongoing preparations for the complete withdrawal of international coalition forces from Iraqi territory. The Prime Minister reiterated the necessity of strengthening these diverse relations with coalition states, while commending Germany's continuous role over the years in supporting Iraq in its fight against terrorism, particularly during the period of confronting the ISIS terrorist organization.
