Qatar Condemns Iranian Attack on Jordan, Deems it Violation of International Law

Qatar has strongly condemned the renewed Iranian attacks on Jordan, viewing them as a blatant violation of the Kingdom's sovereignty and a clear breach of international law. Doha called for an immediate halt to all military actions that threaten the security and stability of the region. In a statement issued today, Wednesday, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the continuation of these aggressions constitutes a dangerous escalation that could complicate efforts to contain tensions and undermine political and diplomatic endeavors. The Qatari Ministry held Iran fully legally responsible for these attacks and their repercussions, reiterating its full solidarity with Jordan and its support for all legitimate measures taken by the Kingdom to preserve its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. It also called for refraining from any action that expands the escalation and for a serious return to negotiations, adhering to the understandings achieved through diplomatic efforts. This Qatari stance follows the Iranian attack that targeted areas in Jordan in the early hours of Wednesday. Jordanian forces announced that their air defenses successfully dealt with a missile assault, which involved the launch of 20 ballistic missiles from Iranian territory. They managed to intercept and destroy 18 of them, while the remaining two fell in empty and remote areas without causing any human casualties. For its part, Iranian forces announced that they launched a ballistic missile attack targeting the Azraq military base in Jordan, located approximately 100 kilometers from the capital, Amman.
