Rising Complaints Over iPhone Duo Screen Cracks Raise Manufacturing Quality Concerns

Recently, there has been a notable increase in complaints from users of the foldable iPhone Duo reporting screen cracks occurring during normal use, raising questions about the manufacturing quality and the manufacturer's credibility in describing the issue as affecting only a "small number" of devices. This comes despite the phone being marketed as more durable compared to foldable Android phones like the Galaxy Z Fold 8. However, user reports indicate defects in the hinge causing cracks on the inner screen. Several users have reported an unusual stiffness in the hinge when opening the phone, followed by a cracking sound and then the appearance of cracks extending along the middle and right side of the inner screen. Verification of some cases showed that the damage occurred during normal usage, suggesting a faulty hinge component that does not open properly and presses against the screen, causing a hole near the bottom area. Although the company acknowledged the issue, it limited its statement to affecting a "small number" of devices without providing exact figures, leaving room for speculation about the actual scale of the problem. Technical analysis suggested two possibilities: either the central support bar does not fully lower when closing the phone, or the curved guide bars rise toward the screen, creating pressure in the cracked areas. Claims dismissing these reports as misuse or fabricated images have been refuted, as confirmed cases involve real users with actual devices damaged under normal conditions. These issues differ from those reported by Galaxy Z Fold 8 users, indicating that the hinge defect is specific to the iPhone Duo and does not affect other foldable phones like the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. Based on these findings, new iPhone Duo owners are advised to treat any sudden stiffness in the hinge as a warning sign requiring caution.
