Within the framework of ongoing efforts by security authorities to uncover the circumstances of mysterious crimes and achieve justice, the Babylon Police Command announced on Saturday that it has reached conclusive evidence confirming the existence of criminal suspicion behind the death of a citizen. This sensitive security discovery came as a result of careful follow-up conducted under the direct supervision of Police Chief Major General Abbas Hassan Nasser Al-Husseini, which was launched immediately upon the victim's arrival at Imam Al-Sadiq Hospital, peace be upon him, where preliminary inspections and investigations by the specialized team raised substantial doubts about the cause of death prior to handing over the body to his bereaved family. Investigations and information gathered by technical teams indicated suspicion regarding the involvement of the deceased's wife in the incident, as she is believed to have placed toxic material used for exterminating insects inside the tea cup consumed by her husband. Against this backdrop, the body was transferred to forensic medicine and necessary laboratory tests were conducted to verify the circumstances. In the same context, a specialized investigation team headed by the director of the Babylon Anti-Crime Department, including a group of investigators and forensic evidence experts, was formed to gather clues and evidence. The investigations resulted in the accused confessing to the act attributed to her, and her statements were judicially ratified before the competent investigative judge, while all necessary legal procedures were taken against her and she was detained in accordance with the law.
