The Government Palace in Baghdad hosted the 38th regular meeting of the State Administration Coalition on Saturday evening, presided over by Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi. Discussions focused on a range of strategic files impacting various aspects of Iraqi reality, encompassing economic, political, and legislative dimensions. In the context of political developments, the coalition paid particular attention to the current internal situation, alongside surrounding regional and international circumstances. Participants underscored the utmost necessity of unifying the national stance and preserving Iraq's stability, sovereignty, and supreme interests. Reaffirming these principles, attendees emphasized the imperative to shield Iraq from any negative repercussions arising from U.S. sanctions imposed on certain countries, noting that Iraq's current financial situation does not permit any form of risk. Continued effective coordination among the coalition's components and support for state institutions in confronting current challenges were also affirmed. In light of these discussions, the meeting addressed the file of completing the governmental formation, reaching an agreement to proceed with constructive dialogue with eligible political blocs for ministerial positions in the coming week. The attendees reiterated their steadfast support for the state's clear approach of rejecting sectarian discourse and fostering social peace, in line with constitutional principles. On the economic and financial front, the coalition thoroughly reviewed the economic, financial, and investment situation, tackling vital projects such as new cities and the one-million residential land plot initiative. Emphasis was placed on accelerating measures aimed at supporting investment and addressing the escalating housing crisis. As an immediate step to tackle this crisis, the Prime Minister announced directives to halt the demolition of encroachments until the distribution of the one million residential land plots to eligible recipients is completed. In the same vein, Al-Zaidi revealed the imminent launch of a new financial payment to clear dues for farmers and contractors, a move aimed at bolstering the agricultural and construction sectors. To further bolster the developmental path, the meeting stressed the importance of discussing the draft oil and gas law, in preparation for its submission to the Council of Representatives for approval. The coalition also affirmed the necessity of supporting the private sector, considering it an essential and important partner in achieving comprehensive development. The meeting also dedicated significant attention to the anti-corruption and institutional reform file. The coalition discussed governmental measures undertaken in this regard, in addition to the draft law for the Federal Internal Oversight Authority. The importance of essential laws to enable the government to implement its reform programs was emphasized. While Al-Zaidi declared the government's continued resolute approach in combating corruption, attendees affirmed their ongoing support for the anti-corruption campaign and the pursuit of corrupt individuals, while appreciating the judicial authority's actions in this domain in accordance with the law.
