Tehran and Muscat Discuss "New Navigation Corridor" in Hormuz, Coordinate Announcement

A high-ranking Iranian official announced today, Wednesday, that Tehran and Muscat are engaged in extensive discussions concerning new navigation arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz. Abbas Moghtadaei, First Deputy Head of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, indicated the imminent announcement of a "new corridor" for maritime navigation, to complement the existing southern route. Moghtadaei clarified that these discussions are taking place at the level of the two countries' foreign ministries, and the new navigation path is expected to be unveiled through a joint statement. He affirmed that Iran, under the updated arrangements, will continue to assert its "authority" over this corridor, while intensifying joint cooperation with the Sultanate of Oman to bolster navigation security and regional stability.
