The United Arab Emirates today, Monday, announced the passing of Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, younger brother of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who died this morning. Following this profound loss, the Dubai Ruler’s Court declared official mourning and the lowering of flags across the emirate for ten days, effective today, expressing deep national sorrow. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, mourned the deceased with immense grief. In a post on "X", he extended sincere condolences and sympathy to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and the entire Al Maktoum family, praising Sheikh Ahmed’s virtues and national contributions as a testament to a life full of giving. He prayed to Allah for mercy and forgiveness for the deceased, to grant him paradise, and to inspire patience and solace in his family. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also expressed profound sadness over his brother's passing. In a personal post on "X", he wrote: "May God have mercy on you, my brother. You have arrived before a generous and mighty Lord. You depart from our sight but not from our prayers and hearts, O Ahmed," praying to Allah Almighty to grant the deceased mercy and forgiveness, and to bless his family and loved ones with patience and solace in this ordeal.
