U.S. Interior Secretary Nuge Birgum announced on Friday that American forces are providing support to ensure the passage of millions of barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz during nighttime hours. Birgum noted that these forces sometimes escort over 20 vessels in a single night to traverse this strategic waterway. The Secretary explained, in statements to CNBC, that naval mine removal operations have enabled intensified traffic, with some nights witnessing more than 20 ships departing the strait. He further stated that some giant tankers carry approximately two million barrels of crude oil, indicating that "enormous quantities of oil" have moved through the strait.
