Wassit Governor Ali Hassan Salimoun announced a comprehensive administrative and oversight campaign to combat corruption and cleanse state institutions. Salimoun confirmed referring major corruption files, involving substantial financial violations and widespread suspicions, to the Integrity Commission and the judiciary. He noted one trillion Iraqi dinars were spent on non-compliant projects, now eroding and decaying despite recent execution. Salimoun explained the new administration's vision focuses on fair service delivery, ending years of unprofessionalism and favoritism. He revealed a 37-billion-dinar construction project suffered structural collapses just seven months after handover, due to specification manipulation and lack of oversight. He added that financial allocations for the governorate over the past four years, exceeding 1.284 trillion dinars, plus 100 billion dinars from petrodollar and border funds, were not used for genuine developmental or strategic projects but diverted for narrow electoral and partisan interests, leading to their decay. Audit committees also identified a clear violation: 85 billion dinars distributed to specific companies without Ministry of Finance approval, now before the Integrity Commission. The Governor confirmed ending the "dark rooms" era and administrative decision monopolization by influential managers. He stressed the current administration operates with a team spirit, adhering to law and discipline to ensure service provision and complete project sector restructuring, starting anew and relying on young, competent, and untainted engineering talent.
