In light of ongoing water fluctuations, the Civil Defense Directorate in Anbar Governorate took proactive precautionary measures on Tuesday to prepare for any potential emergencies caused by rising water levels in the Euphrates River, as part of a comprehensive strategy aimed primarily at safeguarding citizens' lives and protecting both public and private properties from possible damage. In this context, the directorate's Director of Relations and Information, Nuwas Sabah Shaker, explained in statements to the official agency that the operational plans included deploying firefighting and rescue teams along the riverbanks, subjecting the river channel to continuous and meticulous monitoring, and conducting a comprehensive field survey of vulnerable areas to address weaknesses by constructing engineering earthen barriers and essential protective supports. The official further noted that the relevant authorities successfully obtained official pledges from trespassers encroaching upon the water reserve to remove all violations that could obstruct the natural flow of water, emphasizing at the same time that coordination channels remain open and active with various service and security departments to ensure constant monitoring of water developments and to implement necessary measures according to situational requirements.
