Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, Director of the Commander-in-Chief's Office for the Armed Forces, affirmed Iraq's commitment to bolstering national security following the anticipated withdrawal of international coalition forces. Speaking in televised statements on Saturday, Al-Shammari announced the complete withdrawal of international troops from Iraqi territory by September 30, confirming Victoria Base is now entirely free of any American presence. Al-Shammari reassured the public that Iraq has plans to address any potential gaps in aviation capabilities resulting from the coalition's departure, emphasizing no concerns regarding the nation's security. He highlighted that this development confirms the absence of foreign combat forces or military bases outside state control after the specified date. Regarding the Turkish presence, Al-Shammari disclosed ongoing discussions in Istanbul concerning the evacuation of the Bashiqa site, clarifying that Turkish forces are expected to withdraw from this base within 60 days. He added that Iraqi forces would assume full control over Mount Sinjar. Addressing armed factions, Al-Shammari reported three factions have surrendered their weapons, including drones and rockets. He noted dialogues are underway between several of these factions and political leaders, aimed at integration into the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) framework. The Director of the Commander-in-Chief's Office reiterated Iraq's categorical rejection of its territory being used as a launchpad for attacks targeting neighboring countries. He stressed that any weaponry outside the state's authority would be unjustifiable after September 30. Furthermore, he confirmed continued security coordination with neighboring and regional countries, alongside a study for new border posts with Turkey.
