Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani affirmed on Thursday the region's full commitment to supporting Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi's government against political, security, and economic challenges. He made these remarks at the American University of Kurdistan's graduation ceremony in Duhok. Barzani stated that the KRG promptly opened communication channels with Baghdad; their joint efforts now establish a new Iraq. He underscored full support for Al-Zaidi's government as it addresses challenges impacting the country and region. The KRG's aid, he clarified, extended beyond words. During the Strait of Hormuz conflict, it supported Iraqi oil exports and boosted its contribution. It also provided electricity to citizens outside the region, even during its own dire times of need. Barzani described these initiatives as true partnership and concrete proof of building Iraqi state institutions. He stressed that robust institutions mean justice, stability, and a future based on competence and merit for citizens, not favoritism. Concluding, he asserted a strong Iraq requires a strong Kurdistan, a safeguard for regional peace and prosperity. Its strength, he added, comes from its unity.
