Britain expands sanctions list to include entities and individuals

As part of its ongoing measures to pressure Moscow and its allies, the British Foreign Office revealed on Thursday a broad package of sanctions targeting 26 individuals and entities, distributed between Russia and other countries including China, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Canada, and Thailand. These new restrictions affected about 23 companies active in those countries, along with a number of individuals holding different nationalities, including the Netherlands, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia. In addition to companies and figures, the measures extended to 12 vessels accused of transporting Russian oil shipments, while the British Treasury issued a temporary exceptional license allowing the "Zarubezhneft" company to wind up its business within British territory until the twenty-first of next November. In contrast, Moscow has consistently affirmed that it will counter these ongoing Western sanctions. Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously described the strategy of containing and weakening Russia as long-term Western plans, stressing that these coercive measures have resulted in severe damage to the entire global economy and primarily harmed those imposing them.
