The General Commission for Customs announced on Thursday the initiation of a Council of Ministers' decision to extend the period for vehicle entry. In a statement, the Commission clarified that Cabinet Resolution No. (468) for 2026 extends the entry deadline for vehicles under Resolution No. (215) for 2009. This measure considers current regional circumstances, including disrupted supply chains, port closures, and shipping delays. The Commission confirmed circulating the decision to its directorates and customs centers, instructing them to implement necessary procedures according to effective customs laws and regulations. This ensures swift transaction completion and smooth entry for covered vehicles. It further noted that the decision aims to streamline procedures and mitigate effects of extraordinary conditions impacting transport and shipping, while upholding legal and customs compliance and safeguarding public funds. Director-General Thamer Qasim Dawood affirmed the Commission will monitor the decision's execution in relevant centers. He added this ensures its objective is met, facilitating trade for citizens and businesses by accelerating procedures without compromising oversight and auditing requirements.
