Continued decline Syrian passport ranking within international mobility freedom indicators

The Syrian passport continues its decline in the global rankings for freedom of movement, as it came within the list of the weakest passports in the world according to the "Passport Index 2026" indicator, alongside Afghanistan, Iraq, and Yemen.

The index depends on the number of countries that a passport holder can enter without a prior visa or via a visa on arrival, in addition to diplomatic agreements and international mobility policies between countries.

According to the classification, Syrians face extensive restrictions and increasing difficulties in obtaining visas, which limits freedom of travel and movement compared to passports of other countries that enjoy the ability to enter dozens of countries without complex procedures.

Observers believe that the continuation of political and economic crises, along with the decline in diplomatic relations, directly reflects on the strength of the Syrian passport and its position in international indicators for freedom of travel.
