Syrian Foreign Ministry Rejects Jordanian Shelling and Declares It Unacceptable Under Any Justification

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today, Tuesday, its firm rejection of the shelling carried out by Jordanian forces in Daraa province, affirming that it cannot be accepted under any justification. The ministry's official statement highlighted the deep and historic fraternal relations between Syria and Jordan, emphasizing that both countries always work to enhance mutual understanding and shared interest in the welfare of their peoples. The statement expressed serious concern over recent security developments along the shared border, strongly condemning the Jordanian shelling that targeted several sites in Daraa, describing it as a blatant violation of Syrian airspace without prior coordination, resulting in casualties and injuries. The ministry also renewed its strong condemnation of the attack on the Mar George Church days ago, considering this assault an unacceptable attempt to undermine the religious and social values uniting the two peoples. It affirmed that such military actions are entirely unacceptable, violating principles of good neighborliness and national sovereignty, and contradicting frameworks of joint coordination between the two countries. The statement stressed that there are parties seeking to disrupt the brotherly relations between Syria and Jordan and to sow discord. It added that coordination is currently underway between the sides to form an urgent joint field and security committee aimed at ending these violations, protecting the borders, and ensuring security coordination to prevent future breaches threatening the security of both nations.
