As part of operations tackling financial exploitation, the Federal Intelligence and Investigative Agency dismantled a criminal network on Sunday comprising four suspects, including two women, involved in luring citizens with usurious loans and extorting them to sell their organs to repay debts in Baghdad. The operation was carried out by anti-organized crime detachments in Rusafa under the direct supervision of the Senior Deputy Minister for Intelligence Affairs, following intelligence on the gang targeting low-income individuals with tempting loans before imposing impossible repayment conditions. Authorities revealed that gang members coerced victims into selling their human organs, specifically kidneys, to clear accumulated debts. A specialized intelligence team apprehended all four suspects after securing proper judicial warrants, seizing phones and ledgers documenting the illegal usury transactions and extortion. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing organized crime networks and protecting vulnerable citizens from exploitation.
