The Directorate of Military Intelligence announced on Sunday the apprehension of "Abu Saher," a prominent leader of the ISIS terrorist organization in Kirkuk Governorate. This operation is part of ongoing efforts to track down remnants of terrorist groups, as "Abu Saher" was considered a high-value target for security agencies. The Directorate successfully carried out this precise pre-emptive operation following diligent intelligence monitoring, which led to the identification of his hiding place in the Yaichji district of Kirkuk. His arrest was executed with effective coordination between the 8th Division Intelligence Department and the Yaichji Intelligence Branch, as he was wanted under Article (4/1) of the Anti-Terrorism Law. Information indicates that the arrested terrorist held several sensitive positions within what was known as ISIS's "Wilayat al-Iraq" (Iraq Province), where he worked with the "Yarmouk Brigade" in Anbar Governorate, specifically in the Saqlawiyah sector. He also assumed responsibilities within the so-called "Diwan al-Khidamat" (Services Bureau) during the terrorist organization's presence in certain areas of Anbar. Necessary legal procedures have been taken against the accused to refer him to the judiciary in accordance with prevailing laws.
