High level Kurdish government delegation visits Baghdad to arrange financial files

A high-level negotiating delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government is preparing to head to the capital, Baghdad, tomorrow, Wednesday, with the aim of holding intensive talks and discussing ways to resolve all financial commitments, rights, and dues of the region within the general federal budget project. In a related context, the Department of Information and Communications in the regional government clarified through an official statement that this delegation includes an elite group of prominent officials representing the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, in addition to advanced staff from the Ministries of Finance and Natural Resources, as well as an official representative from the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs. This delegation is scheduled to hold a series of extensive meetings with the federal Ministry of Finance, where financial and oil commitments related to the region's rights will be discussed, and the discussions will also include the file of salaries for employees, Peshmerga forces, security forces, retirees, and segments covered by the social protection network, alongside addressing operational and investment expenditures and other dues. At the end of the statement, the regional government emphasized that its negotiating delegation will urgently demand the consolidation of Kurdistan's dues clearly and within precise legal frameworks within the budget, with the necessity of creating a fixed mechanism that guarantees the process of disbursing them regularly, while pre-affirming the rejection of subjecting salaries and basic dues to the actual expenditure standard or any potential obstacles or restrictions that may lead to their delay or reduction in financial volume.
