A member of the Energy Committee in the Iranian Parliament, Gholam Reza Dehghan Nasser Abadi, stated that Iran lost approximately one-third of its natural gas production capacity during the country's recent war. Nasser Abadi clarified that several phases and facilities in the Asaluyeh region of the South Pars gas field suffered extensive damage, leading to a significant decline in Iran's overall gas sector production capacity. The South Pars field is considered the largest source of gas production in Iran, supplying the majority of the country's natural gas needs. It is also a shared field with Qatar. Officials confirmed that the Ministries of Oil and Energy are exerting intensive efforts to rehabilitate the damaged facilities and restore production levels to those prior to the outbreak of the conflict. Repair and reconstruction operations are ongoing in this vital sector. These statements come amidst increasing challenges facing Iran's energy sector following the damage inflicted upon its oil and gas infrastructure during recent military confrontations. The government continues its endeavors to secure domestic supplies and mitigate the impact of reduced production on the national economy.
