In a move to strengthen bilateral relations and address pending issues, the Republic of Iraq and the State of Kuwait have agreed to form a joint working group. This decision comes as part of both countries' efforts to solidify the spirit of brotherhood, good neighborliness, and mutual interests, representing a strategic direction to open a new chapter of cooperation. The agreement followed a meeting between Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi and the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. A joint statement, issued by the Prime Minister's Media Office, affirmed both parties' commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties and seriously addressing all pending issues between them with transparency. The agreement stipulates that the joint Iraqi-Kuwaiti working group will review pending files and develop a clear roadmap for their effective resolution. The team is scheduled to submit its joint recommendations to the leaderships of both countries within a period not exceeding thirty days from its formation date. To ensure the effective and continuous progress of work, the team will hold its meetings alternately between the capital Baghdad and Kuwait City, on an ongoing basis until all its assigned tasks are fully completed. Both sides affirmed their full support for the team's work and their keenness to complete its assigned mission. This endeavor is expected to definitively close pending files and open a new phase of constructive cooperation and partnership between the two countries, serving the supreme interests of the fraternal Iraqi and Kuwaiti peoples and enhancing regional stability.
