Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi concluded an intensive working visit to New York City, United States, on Saturday, subsequently returning to the capital, Baghdad. His return followed his participation in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly meetings. During his tenure in New York, the Prime Minister delivered Iraq's address before the General Assembly and engaged in an extensive series of bilateral and multilateral meetings, which included prominent international leaders and figures. Al-Zaidi met with United States President Donald Trump, King Abdullah II of Jordan, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. His diplomatic engagements also included meetings with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Kenyan President William Samoei, Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa, Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. The visit's agenda further encompassed receptions for Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, and Rwandan Prime Minister Justin Nsengiyumva. He also held discussions with Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio. In the realm of international cooperation, the Prime Minister participated in a multilateral meeting at the invitation of the U.S. President. He also received distinguished UN officials, including the Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCWA, the High Commissioner for Refugees Barham Saleh, UNDP Administrator Alexander De Croo, and IMF Middle East and Central Asia Department Director Jihad Azour. Al-Zaidi's efforts extended to the economic sphere, where he attended and oversaw a roundtable meeting that brought together representatives of American and Iraqi banks. Additionally, he received a delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce, ExxonMobil CEO Darren Woods, and a delegation from the U.S. company HKN, specializing in oil and gas field exploration and development. He also met with Stewart Jones, President of the Middle East Institute for Research and Studies, alongside representatives from several major companies operating in the energy, transportation, communications, and technology sectors.
