Negotiations between Iraq and Jordan to renew their annual contract for Iraqi oil supply to Amman have been suspended. The talks, stalled for months, encountered disagreements over transportation fees and Iraq's reported inflexibility. The previous annual contract ended on June 26th and was extended for three months starting in October to complete agreed quantities. Although the contract stipulated supplying 10,000 to 15,000 barrels of oil daily via tankers, Jordan received 10,000 barrels per day, partly due to an existing import agreement with Saudi Aramco. Jordan's Ministry of Energy confirmed "no new developments." However, neither the Iraqi Ministry of Oil nor state-owned oil marketer SOMO responded to comment requests on these developments.
