During his official visit to the German capital, Berlin, Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi affirmed on Tuesday the government's directives aimed at boosting national economic growth and comprehensive development. These statements highlight Iraq's ongoing efforts to solidify its position as a proactive economic center. In a meeting with the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, a comprehensive review of evolving bilateral relations between Iraq and Germany was conducted. The two sides also discussed joint efforts to strengthen economic partnership and explored ways to expand German company involvement in ongoing development projects across Iraq. The Prime Minister clarified that the Iraqi government is committed to advancing its comprehensive economic openness towards Germany and the wider European Union. Prominent among these directives are increasing crude oil production and export levels, alongside raising electricity generation capacity. Al-Zaidi also emphasized accelerating Iraq's transformation into a vital economic corridor linking Asian and European markets, notably through the strategic Development Road project. Concluding his remarks, Al-Zaidi reiterated Iraq's firm commitment to dedicating efforts to supporting regional stability and de-escalating regional tensions. This endeavor aims to create further opportunities for robust regional and international economic partnerships and achieve desired integration in joint development projects, ultimately benefiting the Iraqi people and friendly nations, including the German people.
