The General Authority for Monitoring the Allocation of Federal Revenues announced that Iraq's government revenues reached approximately 45.355 trillion dinars by the end of August 2026. The authority indicated that 77% of these revenues were oil-based, while non-oil revenues accounted for 23%. The authority's chairperson noted that the 2027 budget is still under preparation and has not yet been finalized, with ongoing amendments and discussions. She emphasized that the authority's role in reviewing the criteria for distributing federal resources aims to ensure fairness and transparency, and to strengthen the integrity of decisions related to public fund allocation, in accordance with Article 106 of the Iraqi Constitution. She explained that the authority bases its work on constitutional and legal foundations, particularly Article 106 of the constitution and Authority Law No. 55 of 2017, to guarantee transparency and fairness in allocating federal resources. The oversight focuses on verifying the accuracy of financial data, tracking revenues from entitlement, collection, and deposit into the general treasury, through to the allocation and distribution of resources, as well as monitoring financial deviations and enhancing proactive oversight. Data from the Ministry of Finance up to August 31, 2026, showed total revenues of 45.355 trillion dinars, including 34.726 trillion dinars from oil revenues and 10.629 trillion dinars from non-oil revenues. Total expenditures reached about 78.9 trillion dinars, with 75.8 trillion dinars as current spending and 3.1 trillion dinars as investment spending, resulting in a gap between revenues and expenditures of approximately 33.6 trillion dinars.
