In a move aimed at enhancing living security and supporting the most vulnerable groups in society, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced today, Monday, the official launch of the social assistance payment for the month of October 2026. More than two million and 36 thousand families distributed between the capital Baghdad and the rest of the Iraqi provinces, with the exception of the Kurdistan Region, benefited from this new financial payment. The total funding allocated for this payment exceeded 435 billion Iraqi dinars to cover the basic needs of the beneficiaries. In this context, the Head of the Social Protection Authority, Ahmed Al-Moussawi, stated in an official statement that these financial distributions included two main sectors; the number of families supported by men exceeded one million and 476 thousand families, with a total amount exceeding 352 billion dinars. Meanwhile, the number of families supported by women reached more than 559 thousand families, with a total amount exceeding 83 billion Iraqi dinars, reflecting the institution's keenness to target the most vulnerable and deserving segments for continuous government support. Al-Moussawi added that the relevant authorities in the authority have completed all technical and administrative arrangements and procedures related to the launch of this payment, in order to ensure complete smoothness in financial disbursement operations and the arrival of dues to their actual beneficiaries without any obstacles. He directed a direct invitation to all beneficiaries included in the program to review officially approved disbursement outlets to receive their financial dues easily. In conclusion, he stressed that the authority continues tirelessly in making efforts to secure the social safety network and enhance levels of protection for poor groups within strategic plans aimed at improving the living stability of Iraqi families.
