Mastercard Honors Qi Card for Cyber Excellence Protecting 17 Million Users Against Digital Financial Fraud

Amid the growing security challenges associated with the rapid digital financial transformation across Iraq, global payments giant Mastercard has officially honored the International Smart Card company, widely known as Qi Card, within its specialized Cybersecurity Excellence Program. This recognition acknowledges the Iraqi institution’s proven track record in safeguarding electronic payments and protecting the personal data and financial transactions of more than 17 million account holders against increasingly sophisticated digital threats and fraudulent operations. This prominent recognition is substantiated by significant analytical metrics recorded by the entity’s defense framework over a comprehensive six-month assessment period. Throughout this operational timeframe, the integrated platform successfully tracked 3,246 unauthorized card-testing operations and decisively exposed 1,377 banking account numbers involved in fraudulent activity, while maintaining a remarkable outcome of zero false-positive alerts during the testing phase, demonstrating the unmatched accuracy of the adopted algorithmic mechanisms. Mastercard praised the transition led by Qi Card from conventional detection methods toward proactive, risk-oriented systems powered by threat intelligence. Consequently, these robust security measures have effectively countered repeated attempts to exploit illicitly generated or compromised card credentials. In doing so, the framework significantly restricted fraudulent transfers while simultaneously maintaining seamless payment workflows for genuine consumers, thereby preventing unnecessary card freezes and unjustified transaction denials. Overall, this achievement reflects Qi Card’s firm dedication to elevating digital banking safety, preventing financial data forgery, and protecting national assets to reinforce widespread public confidence in Iraq's evolving financial ecosystem. Looking forward, Qi Card and Mastercard are actively reinforcing their strategic collaboration to develop cybersecurity capabilities, track emerging vectors, and deliver a reliable digital payment landscape aligned with international banking benchmarks.
