National Security forces, in coordination with relevant security and regulatory bodies, successfully seized 14 tankers and a truck loaded with petroleum products intended for smuggling out of the country during two security operations in the provinces of Anbar and Basra. At the Al-Waleed border crossing in Anbar province, based on precise intelligence from the Ports Security Directorate, a joint committee was formed including Anbar Security Directorate, the National Intelligence Service, and Customs Police. This led to the seizure of 9 vehicles belonging to a petroleum transport company, whose cargo was declared as refined oils, but verification procedures revealed they were loaded with diesel fuel intended for smuggling. In Basra province, after obtaining the necessary judicial approvals, National Security Directorate units, in cooperation with Basra Operations Command, Naval Command, and the Inspection Department of the Ministry of Oil, seized 5 tankers each with a capacity of 36,000 liters loaded with black oil at the Al-Zubair district near the Free Zone gate. The operation resulted in the arrest of the five tanker drivers and a customs employee due to violations related to the sealing procedures. Inspections also revealed the absence of approved tracking and monitoring devices in the tankers. These operations are part of ongoing intelligence and regulatory efforts by the National Security forces, in coordination with concerned authorities, to combat petroleum product smuggling, protect public funds, and strengthen control over border crossings to prevent their exploitation in illegal activities.
