New security strategy to manufacture drones and enhance military capabilities

In the context of developments in the security and strategic landscape of the country, the Spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Sabah Al-Nuaimi, confirmed during a televised appearance, that Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi places great importance on upgrading the technical level of the security forces and enhancing their combat and technical capabilities to face various challenges. Al-Nuaimi explained that the initiative is entirely in the hands of the security forces, confirming that ISIS terrorist gangs no longer pose any danger, and pointing out at the same time the urgent need of security units for precise technical specializations, relying on the 2027 budget to complete all necessary technical requirements. The spokesperson added that the Counter-Terrorism Service has effectively begun keeping pace with rapid developments in the field of cybersecurity, pointing out that the Commander-in-Chief promised to equip the service with aviation. Regarding the international coalition file, he explained that the coalition was limited to providing air support, while security forces and Popular Mobilization Forces handled operations on the ground to fight terrorist remnants, confirming that Operation Inherent Resolve has officially ended in Iraq while continuing in Syria, and that the withdrawal of coalition forces came as a result of deep study and analysis conducted by specialized military leaders, as well as the fact that airstrikes carried out against terrorism during 2026 were purely Iraqi. Within the framework of keeping pace with modern warfare methods that rely heavily on drones and advanced technologies, Al-Nuaimi confirmed that the armament file received exceptional attention from the Commander-in-Chief, indicating the existence of a comprehensive strategic plan to update air defense systems and strict directives to reduce the time required to complete this update. He revealed a serious tendency to manufacture drones locally in partnership with specialized international companies, while confirming that there was no Israeli base in the Karbala desert, but rather a force belonging to the international coalition, and regarding the explosion that struck a headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces, he stressed that it was not an external targeting and that the investigation results will be announced soon upon completion, concluding by stressing that the borders with Syria are completely fortified with modern and advanced technologies and fully secured, and that the security agencies possess the full capability to protect the national security of the country.
