Omani Navy Successfully Evacuates Crew from Commercial Ship After Incident Near Musandam

The Omani Navy announced on Friday the evacuation of 25 crew members from a commercial ship following an incident 1.6 nautical miles off the coast of Musandam Governorate. Authorities stated that the ship, named RITI and flying the Panamanian flag, was targeted, resulting in a fire onboard. The Royal Navy of Oman promptly initiated the evacuation operation upon receiving the report, coordinating fully with the Maritime Security Center, successfully rescuing all crew members and transferring them to a safe location. Medical care was provided immediately upon their arrival as part of the swift response to the incident's consequences. This event is part of a series of maritime incidents in the region over recent months, during which Omani authorities have conducted similar evacuations of commercial vessels facing attacks or security incidents near the Musandam coast, underscoring the Sultanate’s commitment to securing vital shipping lanes and protecting passing ship crews.
