Parliamentary Bloc Suspends Attendance at Sessions Over Deputies' Misconduct

The Reconstruction and Development parliamentary bloc announced on Monday the suspension of its attendance at parliamentary sessions in protest against the violations and insults occurring during the sessions by some deputies. The bloc stated in a statement that it follows with deep condemnation and rejection the irresponsible behaviors adopted by certain deputies, which represent a clear deviation from the principles of parliamentary work and the rules of political competition, falling within systematic campaigns aimed at defaming the bloc and its leadership. The statement pointed out that the bloc has been keen in the past period to rise above negative responses and prioritize wise dialogue, submitting an official memorandum to the Speaker of the Council demanding the referral of the concerned deputy to the Parliamentary Ethics Committee. However, the lack of practical measures encouraged the continuation of violations. The bloc called on the Speaker and his deputies to take a firm and responsible stance to put an end to these practices, announcing the suspension of its attendance at sessions until legal procedures are applied according to the internal regulations, ensuring the dignity of parliamentary work and respect for political forces and their leaders. The bloc emphasized that maintaining political stability and fair competition is not a choice but an ethical and legal commitment, which it will defend by all available legal means. It also stressed that this position does not affect its commitment to serving the people, urging the Council to dedicate its efforts to supporting the citizens in facing political, economic, and security challenges, instead of engaging in disputes that threaten political and social stability.
