Qabanji Condemns Israeli Airspace Violations Over Iraq and Calls for Government Response

The Friday preacher in Najaf al-Ashraf, Sadr al-Din Qabanji, condemned the Israeli air force's violation of Iraqi airspace, describing it as a blatant breach of national sovereignty and international laws. Qabanji stated in his sermon that these actions infringe upon the sanctity and sentiments of the Iraqi people, emphasizing the need for the Iraqi government to take a firm and serious stance to confront these violations. Separately, he referred to protests occurring in the city of Amarah against the closure of the Al-Shaib border crossing, which has caused economic harm to the local population. He stressed that the government's position on the closure remains unclear and requires a clear explanation, as no convincing reasons have been provided for this measure, leading to negative reactions and perceptions that it restricts travelers and serves as pressure on Iran. Qabanji added that he supports the demands of the people of Amarah to reopen the crossing or provide suitable alternatives, with a necessity to transparently clarify the reasons to the public.
