Following the actions of three Real Madrid players – Vinicius Jr., Kylian Mbappé, and Ibrahima Konaté – who concealed the "We are all Ceuta" message on their shirts before facing Elche, the Royal club not only defended its players but sought to draw its rival Barcelona into the heart of the crisis in an attempt to justify its stance. Information from media circles close to Real Madrid indicated that the club based its justification on Barcelona having previously refused to wear the same shirt during its match against Levante. This included a query about why the Catalan club did not face a similar reaction at that time, implicitly suggesting that current criticism should not be directed solely at Real Madrid. Media analyses largely considered Real Madrid's comparison to carry a hidden accusation against Barcelona. The Royal club attempted to equate an institutional decision by the Catalan club to reject the initiative with an individual action by three of its players. These analyses stressed that the two cases are not identical; Barcelona's decision was institutional, whereas Real Madrid's concerned individual player conduct. They also highlighted Real Madrid's phrase, "And no one said anything," used in the context of defending the players. Consequently, the debate is no longer confined to Real Madrid players' stance on the Ceuta message but has extended to a new dispute with Barcelona. Real Madrid placed its rival's position in the same context to justify what happened in the Elche match. Observers believe that involving Barcelona opens a new door for discussion, especially since the primary debate initially revolved around the actions of three players concealing the shirt message. This development follows a similar incident involving Moroccan player Abde Ezzalzouli, Real Betis star, who wore a Ceuta support shirt before his team's match against Villarreal. This stance exposed Ezzalzouli to a wave of criticism and insults from many Moroccans. In response to the criticism, Ezzalzouli issued a statement via his social media account, clarifying: "First, I would like to clarify one thing: at no point was the shirt referring to the city of Ceuta used for political purposes or with the intention of disparaging my people, the Moroccan people." He added: "This shirt was of a social nature, aimed at supporting residents and people of an area who were experiencing a difficult situation, regardless of their nationality. This is not an apology to anyone, and whoever wishes to exploit this matter to question my love for my country is free to do so. As for me, I will continue to live every day with my head held high, and I will continue to represent my roots with pride and sacrifice."
