The Ministry of Interior announced on Thursday that one of its personnel was injured during a security operation aimed at freeing a family held hostage by a drug dealer in the Nahrawan area of Baghdad. The ministry stated in an official release that a joint security force from the Federal Police Command and local police commenced a judicial mission to arrest a suspect wanted under Article 431 of the Penal Code, based on a complaint filed by the suspect's father and a decision issued by the investigating judge. The security force proceeded to the suspect's residence and fully cordoned off the area, where the suspect took his family members hostage inside the house and confronted the forces by opening fire. The situation was handled with professionalism and firmness by the security forces, resulting in the injury of a federal police member. After tightening the siege on the suspect, he shot himself and was immediately transported to the hospital. The ministry confirmed full control of the situation and emphasized its continued professional security efforts to protect citizens.
